Default 5 point harness placement (early/late belt question)

Where do you racer's put the harness points?

five points would mean one submarine strap through/between the legs, and then a lap-type belt with one side (I assume) bolting into the regular place for the outside shoulder belt. BUt what about the inboard lap point? Do you anchor to the seat or the center tunnel?

The reason I ask is because the 81 that I no longer have had the inboard belt receptacle bolted to the center section.

My 89 had the inboard bolted to the SEAT.

Well, that seat is long gone and I have Cobra non-adjustable racing seats in now. I wickied up a receptacle to the brey krause brackets that hold the seat to the car, but I'd like to anchor it to the center tunnel.

Then how would I anchor a 5 point harness for DE's and stuff? Do you need the harnesses for DEs?

Maybe put two holes in the tunnel for a future harness and the current shoulder belts?

Brendon,

On my car the 2 lap belts of the 5 point are attached to eye bolts through
the floor behind the seat, the 2 shoulder belts are attached to the roll bar,
and the sub belt is attached to a eye bolt through the floor in front of
the seat. One of the eye bolts behind the seat doubles as a bolt to secure
the rollbar. Before I had the roll bar, I used a set of DEVEK brackets attached
to the rear shock towers.

absolutely anchor it to the center tunnel not the seat. imagine what may happen if your seat mounts fail in a crash. i have a similar setup to georges.

Okay thats perfect, because I didn't want the two belt systems crisscrossing.

THe standard belts on the later cars, as you know Tim, ARE anchored to the seat and not the center tunnel. I'll be changing that.

Now I just have to figure out a way how to.... I'm thinking loctite so I don't have to go back in.
