Default Road and Track Invitational at Laguna Seca this weekend!

This should be a great event. We will have 4 928's competing in the
Road and Track Invitational-US sportcar Invitational this next weekend at Laguna Seca. (april 1-2nd) If you are near by, come on by and say hello. we run at 9am and 2-3pm on Sat and Sunday. (qual /race each day) practice will be on Friday April 30th.

There will be 2 individual races , one each day of the weekend.
2 separate race groups, and over 80 of the best prepared porsches in the country.

Hope to see some of you there. its the monster 928 6.5 liter vs the 5liter mouse motors. Joe and Mark vs Dean and I. Ive heard they are spotting us 7 seconds for dinner! (150 more hp and huge slicks is worth 7 seconds, dont you think??)

MK

Looking forward to it - the challenge of a new track!
The grid is impressive - lots of fast hardware, I'll be dealing with LOTS of traffic going by.

I also want to get a first-hand view of Mark A and Joe (and others!) in the real race strokers beating the 996 cars. For the fairly modest investment in a stroker motor (vs a cup car), I think it's fantastic, and should be inspiring to all with the 928 gene. To put my '79 on the track with that hardware will certainly show the difference, and I'm really going to be looking forward to my stroker motor!

having stood above the pit lane at California Speedway (Fontana)above the box seats and looked down at the PCA "touring" racers gridded for a session a few weeks ago . Impressive is a gross understatement !!! That is one big pond and some very large predatory fish . The cars are not restricted like they are for the 24 hrs Daytona etc. it is run what you brung and bring lots of it !!!! cubic $$$$ . So Dean have your mirrors clean and adjusted you are going to need them but even so you will LOVE Laguna such a neat track , diving down the corkscrew ; it has been maybe 15 years since I last did it and I can still see it in my head ..........

I can't believe the hardware in that group - too many millionaires down there!
Yes, I'll likely not get a clear lap during practice, and only a couple at the race start, and then it's traffic management - which I'm pretty good with - I've had a 'slow' car for a while now. And it's PCA with the 13/13, so everyone stays clean. I'm going to be at the back for sure, but just to get to laguna has been a goal, and I'll have a pretty big grin anywhere I finish.

Dean there are usually some "professional " drivers ( hired guns ) in the mix and not all are very patient after all it is not their car ! Have fun that really is the point . You will never forget Laguna .

you will get a TON of clean laps. great practice to work with traffic.

usually, you will duck behind the faster cup cars, and try and keep up. you may even beat a couple, although this years cup car group looks pretty tough, as Ive raced against many of them. toss in a couple of 04 cup cars with sequential shifting, and you may not stay behind them for very long. some of the slower drivers now have a good couple of years under their belts and they are driving faster, from the times ive seen at other tracks.

watch the mirrors, time the passes right, make your point by's obvious, and you and the other guys will be happy. certainly, you will have a great time and learn the track quickly. you wont have a choice!!

again, its great practice and its a talent that is required if you ever do some of the mixed class races.

last year, i beat 5 out of the 10 cup cars in the two PCA races in California, this year, I dont think that will be the case. You never know, we may surprise some of the 911s. all I care about is Craig Ranta in that 3.8RSR powered 2200lb 993!!!! It will be a blast though, guaranteed!
