Question Timing Belt - slave cylinder // new guy question

I am a new owner of an 88 928 s4 5spd. I have made a post or two lately because I replacing the belts and inspecting the timing belt and generally checking things out along the way. I have read up on the TB replacement procedure and I believe I read that the slave cylinder should be removed during the TB procedure. That sounds to me like the neck bone is connected to the anklebone. Cans someone help me with my curiosity?

It's to insert the flywheel holding tool that lets you remove the crank pulley bolt without rotating the engine. On an automatic, you'll need to remove the "plate" that covers the hole where the clutch slave cylinder would be.

The crank pulley bolt is torqued to somewhere North of 250 ft/lb and is a righty tighty lefty loosey. You're going to rotate your crank counter clockwise, a no no, if you try to get it off without using the flywheel lock that you can buy from any of the big three.

If you have a 5 speed, for purposes of removing the crank bolt only, you can put the car in 5th gear with the hand brake on. This method can be used to remove and re-apply the crank bolt.

Some people find that in order to get the slave out, they have to disconnect the hose, ie, to avoid putting a kink in the metal tubing. If so you will have bleed it from the slave, once it is reconnected. Either way, DO NOT depress the clutch while the slave is removed.
