Default Central locking, again.....

In my 84 standard, I have removed everything non essential to me and just extra that can go wrong (headlighthe washers, etc.). The rear hatch release at the drivers door sill was not working and as it is non essential to me (being that one has to stand at the rear hatch to open and close it anyway), it has been removed along with the hatch release solenoid. My question is if the solenoid/release circuit has something to do with the central locking switch in the center console? Both of my doors lock and unlock with the key from either side and the central locking did at one time lock and unlock the doors. Right now, there is no light or response from the button. I can't make the timewise correlation between the solenoid removal and central locking becoming inoperative.
Thank you for any help.

The hatch release is completely independent of the door locks.

Central locking gets power from the window relay, the cars that have the button on the center console use a special relay P# 92861512602 that allows power to the door locks while the car is running.

You can replace the relay with a normal 5 pin one for now so the locks can lock and unlock with the key, but the button wont work. I did this with my 85 since that relay was a massive parasitic drain in my case.

Default Thank you

The Forgotten On is a scholar and gentleman. Thank you, that's why Rennlist is what it is! I exhausted all other possibilities and realize how particular the relays are. I have a gallon jug full of relays and will search out the part number you described. Thanks again.

Default Confusing

I have several 928 618 113 00 relays which some sources say is the correct unit for the central locking. I have also seen 928 615 116 00 listed in a diagram as the correct unit. I ordered a 928 615 122 02 as some sources agree with The Forgotten On that it is the correct unit for the central locking system. Does the relay plug into socket 3 of the relay panel or under the center console somewhere?

It plugs into the window relay socket on the main fuse panel.

Default Thought so

The lack of any small female socket receivers (while the relay has one male spade) threw me off.

Default Oops

Forgotten On, I was overzealous when taking your advice on your 85 repair. Because I premised my post with 84, I surmised that your mentioning 85 meant that the relay worked in both... it won't work in mine... I purchased a 2602 that I can't use. Do you need a brand new spare, by any chance?
