Exclamation Tip of the Day - Triangular Window Guide

Use threadlock on the screw holding in the guide, otherwise if it comes loose it will foul the window and cause the glass to crack when you wind the window up.

Trust this concrete recommendation to be based upon theoretical vector mapping and force field analysis vs. real time simulation!!

Sadly this happened to me yesterday, fortunately only a 30mm x 3mm shard of glass has been lost from the top of the window, but I'm going to have to find a way of sanding the sharp edges that have been left. Anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to do this (in situ)?

Paul,
Glass can be easily cut back to a smooth edged contour with 'wet' sandpaper (automotive finish type). A few wraps of ~#300 grit around a stub of hose makes a good tool to keep on the sharp edge - and avoid the polished faces. Keep the paper wet.

you could also use very fine steel wool, at least "00" or better, I think the grading goes to "0000" which is similiar to 1000 grit.

...except that glass is harder than steel!

I won't argue with that, but I've taken the edge off broken glass with steel wool, it was what I had at the moment and it smoothed the sharp edge while not scuffing the flat sides of the pane...honest.
