8 inch D90's on all corners of a '79?
My '79 has the original phone dials. admittedly they do suit the car, but my years of 911 prejudice are causing me to lean toward another option. I do very much like the look of the D90's on the 928.
I've found two sets of 6" and 8", giving me four 8 inch to use. I'll keep looking for a pair of 9's but will do the eights for now.
is there anyone out there running this set-up? any suggestions for tire size? thanks. Don.

An 8 inch D90 is either a 911 or 944 rear wheel, 8x16 ET 52.3. If you start with 7x16 ET 65 phone dials, and go to those D90s, your fronts will stick out just over an inch (26 mm) relative to where your phone dials are now, plus or minus the change in section width of whatever tires you choose. If you're at stock ride height in front you might be ok but I think it's cutting it close. The rears will look great, filling out the rear wheel wells nicely, so there's that.

thanks Rob. starting to sound like more trouble than it's worth. I also have a set of 7 and 9 Club Sports. ET 65 and 60. maybe a better option?

You want a front et of 65 or as close as you can get to it for the proper scrub radius of the suspension and steering design, aside from whether they fit without rubbing or not. That 52.3 offset is not great on a 928.

There are also D-90 wheels available with correct offsets for the 928 as delivered on the later GT's.
