Default 88' S4 rear spacers.

Was the widened track at the rear an option for the 88' S4?

If so, was it with the earlier spacers with longer bolts?

Or, the newer type spacers bolted to the hub?

As I am aware the S4 was never equipped with spacers.

The GT models had spacers [17mm?] but they also had rear wheels with greater offset [60mm] as I recall. My understanding is that the GT has longer wheel studs and the spacers were slip over type -option code M393 refers- doubtless some GT owner will confirm that.

As I am aware Porsche never supplied a bolt on spacer- the GTS has even longer studs and a slip over 38mm spacer.

Nope

The GT has 17 mm bolted spacers

In Fact, 87/88 S4 has offset wheel of 52.3 mm and wheel called "flat dish". '89 GT has 60 mm offset wheel called CS design. '90 GT has no spacer and 52,3 mm offset wheel called "design 90"

Ok, cheers.

Yeah, I have a 89' GT as well, but mine is an XC1 with 43mm bolted spacers from factory (930 part numbers) And a GTS with the OE spacers.

I have a set of the early spacers (4 part number) with the longer studs and I was thinking about putting them on my 88' S4 manual with M220 / M474, but since it was not an original option I will pass.

CS/SE and 1989 GT have CS Design rims, ET 60 with 944 Turbo 17 mm double bolt spacers at the rear. The reference is 951 331 611 02 and they need to be removed to install the winter rims.

To my knowledge, S4s never had spacers.

So are you looking for bolt on spacers to fit your S4?
do you know how to figure out what size you need?
Do you know what wheel/tire your going to run?
I suggest HnR Bolt on spacers.
PM me for more info

If anyone is looking for a set of non-OEM 17mm spacers and appropriate longer studs used on the CS/CE/GT models, I have a set I no longer need:

Here are original 928 CS spacers (M393).

And yes, they are dated from February 1986.
All the original CS's that I have inspected have the exact same. Even the very first prototype identified so far had them.

87-88 had no spacers unless specially options (bolt on)
CS had GT spacers (like the 89)
Only the 89 had rear wheel spacers (17mm) and those were bolt on (regular studs as in S4) and different wheel offset
90-91 had no spacers (because of the RDK). Installing spacers looks great but RDK malfunctions because the sender and receiver at the wheels are no longer aligned.
92-95 had factory spacers

Many thanks to you and Stephane for the clarification regarding bolt on spacers- I most certainly got that one wrong! Somewhat obvious when I looked at the PET dwg again later on this evening.

I remain somewhat surprised that Porsche would use a bolt on spacer at that width and was convinced the stock studs would protrude from a 17mm spacer but there we are.

Merci breaucoup mes amis!
