It is been on my list to "introduce" myself in this forum, as I suspected when I jumped into the 928 "family" you were a fun and passionate group! This article just posted tonight and I have already gotten 5 emails from 928 owners extolling the virtues, LOVE it!
FWIW I have owned a litany of Porsche's over the past 30 year and my stable has more than a couple that span the array of models and era's. I was blessed to work at a Porsche dealer in the early 1990's and so I was privy to drive new GT's and GTS's and of course the various used 928 and S4 models. At that juncture I was likely too young to really appreciate them as my primary love was the 911. In recent years I have driven other models including a really exceptional 86.5 5-speed, however none of them really sent me over the edge. For whatever reason this 1979 just felt like it somehow tapped directly into the true heart of what Porsche intended the 928 to be. It feels 100% spiritually connected to my early 911's that I love so much, which I never thought a 928 would feel like as they are SO radically different. I fully recognize the later models are faster, more developed and "better" in every way but somehow this one just stole my heart. Isn't that what is great about this hobby, everyone responds just a little differently to each model and finds their own favorite! The cool thing about the 928 is that Porsche continued to develop the car for 17 years, so each genre I am sure has its devoted advocates. Count me as an early devotee!
Now here are the details of my new car:
I don't have a lot of photos of the car at the moment, but here were two quick ones I took the day I bought it:

- HellBlau over Black Partial Leather
- Options:full power seats left and right, right mirror, LSD, no sunroof or rubstrips
- 100% original right down to the radio

- Came with all the original accessories in perfect condition, even the spare belts, bulb box and the unopened factory service manuals!
- Car is in remarkably great condition aesthetically and everything works including the AC, cruise control and original radio.
I don't have a lot of photos of the car at the moment, but here were two quick ones I took the day I bought it:

And this is coming from a guy who regularly drives an S4 5 speed w/lsd & sport suspension, and has driven an 89 GT for more than a spell.
It's all relative.
Good post George!

That is gorgeous Nathan! As to the trip, when I bought my former Blumaxx (78 5 speed), without anything other than a timing belt/ water pump job done by the prior owner's shop, I picked it up sight unseen in Central VA and drove it over 2000 miles with only one little hiccup. I since drove it to Frenzy and Hershey on a regualr basis, and lots in between. There is nothing like the early cars (I miss mine, but it is in the best of places now). They are easy to work on. relatively, and as you have observed, very tossable and pure Porsche in the twisties. You'll have no issues at all. I also have a 997, a very different car. I had a Boxster too. Great car in its own right. I always stay with a 928 in the stable though.

Mods (are there any left?) you can merge the two threads.
I have met Nathan. He was at a 2019 PNWR PCA All Porsche Show giving a really interesting walking tour of all the cars. He had very nice things to say about the 928s that day. Here is a short video I took that day of his 928 talk (apologize in advance for the camera work).

He is right about the handling.
I had an Audi S7 with sport diff and on the bumps and twisties near my house, my S4 is just as capable, if not moreso. People really need to drive a 928 - they are much more nimble and planted than is commonly supposed.
