I think I'm qualified to comment on this statement. No, LASO is not known in the Porsche 928 community as cheap or Pep Boys quality. Most 928 owners use them and we have close to zero issues.
As I stated before I have used them now for over 25 years in my Porsches and friends 928s without a single problem.

Obviously, not my experience.
And in the end, I do what is best, for my clients.
Southern California must be pure hell on water pumps.
....Because 20,000 miles on a Laso is a fricking miracle, here!
And I got so tired of having to "eat" the labor on a warranty replacement, I specifically tell people that if the Laso pump fails the very next week, I'll get the part replaced, but I won't warranty the labor.
Not an issue with the factory part...zero warranty claims.

You guys have longer periods with very hot weather, I agree. Although it's getting a lot warmer in Europe too, we are talking about short hot periods.
Most 928s in Germany are only driven on weekends and leisure trips with clubs or meetings. You guys in the big cities nd heavy traffic put more stress on the cooling system for sure!
