Default Who do you guys by parts from?

I ordered an idler wheel for the timing belt and a rubber boot for the tensioner from the local (180 away) dealer. I thought I would be smart and go straight to the dealer considering my discount supplier sent the incorrect boot. (everything else correct though) Well both parts arrived today. Wrong parts... So now I have two boots. Both are different than each other but still not the one I need and the idler wheel is also not correct. I just faxed the dealer pictures and the number off my block. and they're still confused. I guess if it's 5 years old or older They can't figure it out.

If you are looking for the 1978-1983 boot they are no longer available. You can use the 1983-1984 boot it you make a spacer to take up the difference in size.

OH! CRAP! Why didn't the dealer tell me! In that case I had the late model one in the first place. I just need to make a spacer. Is there one available on the after market? If not I have the skills the fab one easily enough. Just would have been nice to be told before the dealer sent the wrong part.

What about the idler wheel that rides on the water pump casting? Is that NLA also? The one the dealer sent has a huge hole through the bearing and the bearing spacing is incorrect.

Sorry I didn't order from you guy's Although I've owned this motor for 3 years I'm just getting around to finishing the install. I'm getting the usual lesson in the school of hard knocks. Nothing new to me...

We stock the spacer for these boots for $3each OR you can zip down to Walmart and buy a Dirt Devil Vac belt "Style 1" (no joke : -)

On your order you requested UPS ground which will take 5-7 days. I can change it to Fed Ex overnight and you can can have it Friday but it is much more expensive.

I get almost all my parts from 928 International. Some parts I buy from Devek. And some parts I get from 928 Specialists.

I have learnt that these are all good people. Some are more arrogant, and some are more friendly. And some are 100% reliaable. But they are all good suppliers.

One thing needs to be mentioned. I have never had any kind of problem with International. Period. Mark and Jim are some of the world's nicest, and also most knowledgeable, people. If I could, I would likely move my home just to be closer to them than I am. Porsche .... there is no substitute. You only get what ... maybe 70 years on this earth? .....May as well spend those few years in a Porsche.

I do not use the dealer. They don't know the pointy end of the 928 from the not pointy end. Must less what kind of rubber boot your car needs!

928 International at www.928intl.com

928 Specalists at www.928gt.com

and

Devek at www.devek.net

Also, a local european import dismantler called Lone Star Auto

These guys are great and forgot more about the 928 than most dealership guys know.
