Throttle cable
Considering I haven't easily found the answer online, I assume this is an easy question and I'm an idiot. My cable it sticking, so I want to take it out and see if I can unfreeze it a bit or see if I need a new one. I can't figure out how it disconnects from the throttle pedal. What am I missing?
Thanks

Failed bearings wear into the quadrant shaft. Ive had this happen, and Ive read about a few more.

There may have been a little wire clip locking the socket to the ball. Just push it round till you can withdraw it from the socket, then the socket should pull straight off . Will help to put a trim puller 'fork' behind it or head of pair of pliers so you can get some force square onto the socket.

Ah, turns out the throttle cable on the older cars connects via a rubber holder, like an exhaust hanger. Just pry it off. It looked more solid initially.
I was hoping I would just run some WD40 in the cable, but it was frayed. Can't win them all.

Step # 1 replacing all the rubber fuel hoses. Step # 2 is replace the old throttle cable... We've recently learned this the hard way as two of our club's cars left us stranded (luckily) OR put the car into a guard rail (when it stuck wide open). It could be the throttle body quadrant, but start with the easy stuff first - the cable. Have fun!!
