PET2 8.3
Lots of discussions on the World 928 forums regarding the latest update to PET2 8.3.
ETKA (Lexcom) seem to have finally found a way to stop the "Hoi polloi" from accessing PET. Unless some smart person finds a way around PET2 8.3 access, using PET, may be a pleasure of the past.
Currently, if you update the data for the USA version, update 608 will not load unless you download the executable PET2 8.3 file. So far this is not possible without a formal log in to LexCom.
Price updates do still work and currently I am at 607/227 with 28 days to go before PET2 closes for good
PET is my Bible and I am sure this applies to other 928 vendors. I have researched paid access and the best option is Partslink24. This is offered by LexCom and a yearly membership of $20 a month.
It does not look 100% like PET but all the same info is there including updated prices in $US. Updates are automatic as they are released.
Fingers crossed we have an extra smart interwebs savvy person to find a work around.
Any information to move forward would be greatly appreciated.

Roger,
How is PET you are referring to different from the Porsche Catalog that I access (and download) from this Porsche site?:
https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...artscatalogue/
Edit: If they are the same or similar, I didn't even know they were being updated!

Totally different regarding access and detail. The .PDF version is not searchable, not able to access VIN search, prices and much more. All models.
.PDF is fine for the casual user and it is available on my web page.
PET2 is a whole level higher. It is exactly what Porsche dealers use in the parts department.

Ok, thank you. I figured what you were referring to included current pricing among other things. I can search the version from the Porsche site, but there is no specific VIN data (just ranges sometimes) and certainly no pricing.

Back in the day, we used to change the date on my computer (made the computer think it was a year prior) to keep using date dependent software. Don’t know if this is possible with today’s operating systems.

I've gotten PET 8.0 to update each week now well past 608. There are a few registry tweaks and such. And PET 8.3 is now includes Porsche, Audi. VW, SEAT, Skoda and 2 others data sections TKR and one other. Below is PET2 8.0 updated to current 622/231

The PDF files from Porsche online are not updated frequently. Easiest approach: talk to Roger and he'll set you up with the right parts.

Anybody got the latest 727 update to work? From a quick search it appears that the 8.3 install needs to be "patched" up to 8.6 to make it work.
726 was the last update that would install for me.
