You may be correct Jerry, but last time I was under car (and because of COVID restrictions here in UK the car has only done first long trips for over 18 months in past week) the under tray though in poor condition was still attached at three points to the spoiler, so at some point in those two trips it's come away from the spoiler and lost the first few inches. I would never have knowingly driven it with the under tray damaged/detached like that.

I just had a look at the rub strips. All are completely secure except the rear end of the RH front wing section, where the adhesive goop is breaking up/softening and I can slightly pull that end away from car. Even though it's in the right area, the airflow would have been in direction where it didn't hit that fractional protrusion from body (just a mm or 2).

One other data point. When I was testing for the noise yesterday I noticed that the noise became hollow/different/worse on a rougher road surface which puzzled me at the time, but if the source was that low down under car I'd expect road surface to change the sound.

Anyway I'll give her a run tomorrow — have some jobs to do while she's in the air on quick jack — and report back.

Without the remains of the under try I presume?

New aluminium tray installed with cooling ducts transferred. As car was on ramp I never did a test drive with tray off so will test with tray on today. I’m near certain it was noise source. I’m sure it broke away on that return trip where noise started. I’d even noticed temp was a few degrees higher in gauge on that trip - was very aware as had been pleased needle was nearer mid gauge with new sensor installed on the drive out. Anyway needed that new tray regardless!

The noise was the damaged undertray. All blissfully quiet now with the aluminium tray fitted.

Just weird how a noise source from underneath can sound as if it’s coming from just above your head!
