Default Road Trip Blues(bmw vs 928)

Was supposed to take the 928 to Florida, ended up having my daughter along so I took a 1993 BMW 525 (needed more room). I used to really like the bmw, but after having driven the 928, I prefer the 928. While the 525 is fairly tight, decent pickup, imo it just does not compare to the 928. And this is comparing a 1981 to a 1993. Says something for the Porsche. It is tighter, much better acceleration, even tho it is only the 220 hp version, corners better etc.
Having only driven the 525 short distances, I thought it was as nice as the 928......wrong.
1981 engineering proves true today.
I will say the stock stereo in the BMW is much nicer then the Porsche.
But that is something I will fix later. This has been the only car I have owned since my 70 vette 20 years ago that I enjoy driving without any music.....just the purring of the v8.

Got home and the new shoes were waiting on the porch for me. I went with the Toko ES100's. On and balanced......love them so far.

Agreed. I think the 928's are some of the best porsches to own long term. The 911 is great because it's timeless its form but the 928 really had some amazing tech advances. The ONLY thing I think they slacked on a little was the engine. It's solid yes, but Porsche could have easily engineered it to make more power. I'm not complaining though. The power is good enough for me.

Default rare

yes. engine could have been a little stronger, but this was 1981. Gas crisis etc. Compared to everything else made, this car was awesome.
Good thing about this also, it is so rare around here, no one has any idea what it is. They recognize it as a Porsche, but that is it. Then, when I tell them it is a 1981, it always blows their mind. No one believes me at 1st.
