Default Snow warped hood?

My 928 project was/is stored outside, under a non-waterproof cover, in Texas, and after removing about 8” of snow accumulation on top of 1/4” of ice over a couple days, the hood has noticeably bowed or deformed up (about 3/8”) from front to back.

Will it relax given warmer temperatures?

please post a picture,
the only thing i can think of is that the hood shocks are for the hatch that will bow the hood.

A picture is worth a thousand words

Will post pics tomorrow - was late evening when I discovered the issue. Hopefully the shock(s) are the cause - seems plausible...

if they are hatch shocks on the hood ,
they should be removed so the ***** dont snap off.

NOTE hood shocks are 35 LB,
hatch are 100LB

Snow load here resulted in no warping - I'll go with hatch shocks or an obstruction under the hood.

Glad to hear!

I don't know how much snow weighs, and I can't find any around here in Florida, but the 928 hood is designed to withstand the weight of a 100 lb body crawling over it.

At least, that's what certain popular historical photos suggest...

The weight of snow varies greatly depending on the temp. Super cold snow is virtually weightless.

Warm, wet snow can cave roofs in.

However, unless it's a couple of feet thick, the relatively small area of the hood, combined with even weight distribution across it would make me think there wouldn't be any damage.

And Ferry left a 'butt dent' on the red one. It's been seen in later pics of the car.

Remember too that the hood hinges need some regular lubrication. Spray lithium grease is a good option. Stiff hinges keep the back of the hood high through the middle. Pretty amazing improvement with a little clean and spray lube on the hinges.

Default Will do. Thanks.

On a side-note, read where a lake marina (believe it was Arkansas) NE of us (N Texas) had the covered stalls sink under the weight of the ice and snow - trapping all the boats underneath. Bizarre...

They must not have much excess capacity in the floats. Our marinas here in Iowa don't have the covered docks sink under snow load. Now, float away in a major flood on Mississippi, that's another story.
