While this will not repair the terrible design problem with the piston oil return passages not being drilled through in the GTS models, it will certainly reduce the amount of oil that gets to the intake manifold.

And although things have been a bit confused here, (two of my four mechanics out for injuries.) I'm pretty sure I have not seen your email about a transmission.

That's probably "early".
Most likely it has two 90 degree elbows coming out of the passenger valve cover and no elbows coming out of the driver's valve cover (with a cross over hose to the passenger side.)

Paul,
Mine is an April 1992 with VIN ending in 815085. Early for sure. Very close on the line.

Mike,

Have you had that car at 928 Frenzy in VA in the past few years?

One of the three different ways Porsche plumbed the GTS models.
Porsche had a terrible time with oil consumption on the GTS models, once they eliminated the oil return holes in the pistons.
Which they never were able to solve.

My GTS burns about 1 qt every 1,500-2,000 miles. Always has. Assuming your solution would help with that, how do I order?

That's fantastic and tough to improve, on a GTS!
However, since the valve covers are off, the pieces are so economical, and you are missing a breather, it would be almost silly to not to install a pair.
You can call Mary at 714 879 9072 and she will ship you a pair, with instructions and tools.

The valve covers are off on the S4 engine I'm putting into an '89 I bought last year that didn't have an engine. That's the one missing the oil separator. When I'm done with that, I'll tackle the GTS.

Looks like it has a GTS filler neck (with the right-side port) and some sort of hose that ain’t the uber-twisty GTS hose. Or, it does and the hose was put on wrong.

Paul, I had it there 2018 I believe almost a year after I bought it. I alternate year with my three. Lagoon Green in my signature here.

Pretty sure I saw it there. I remember seeing a GTS with a VIN close to mine. That was a short time after I brought my GTS here from NorCal. Runs much better on 93 octane than the 91 swill I had to put in the tank in CA.

Beautiful car! I've lost track but I think I'm on 928 #15 now. My GTS and CA '89 are in my signature pic. I'm working on another '89 I bought last year here in WV. The black '88 pictured below was my son's college graduation present. He has it in GA now. I can't imagine not having at least one. Next project will be restoring the GTS since I've put almost 178k miles on it. She's looking her age.

Greg, sent you a mail from francesco.tiepolo1 at g mail dot com, for that improved breather.
My engine is the same, 92 GTS.
