Default Question re: the 928 CSF Radiator

I've gone through two 928MS radiators over the years. Both failed in the exact same spot near the top of the passenger end tank so I am shopping alternatives. The CSF radiator had not yet come to market when I bought my last one and I think I'm going to give that one a shot. One question is that they appear to be one universal radiator with two coolers, but my '84 has no oil or trans cooler. Just one inlet / one outlet. Does the CSF radiator come with plugs to close those openings if they are not used? Thanks.

Over 500 have been sold so far with zero issues. Mark @ 928 Intl worked with CSF to develop the radiator. Exact same size as the original and fits all cars from 78 to 95.
We have them in stock for $649 plus shipping. If you do not need the coolers you do not use them. They have a plastic plug to stop ingress of crud.

I have this radiator in my '83, just like your '84 with only inlet/outlet for the engine. Yes, there are plugs for the side coolers. It fit perfectly with the exception that the supplied bolts for the lower shrouds were not quite long enough but still worked, and I understand that Roger would address that with the manufacturer. The top shrouds and bolts were a perfect fit. Even with that minor beef, the position of all shrouds is spot on and that position of the radiator itself is perfect, the mounts are precise. Even if the original radiator was available at the same price, I would STILL choose the CSF with its beefy all-aluminum construction!

Just after this radiator came out, someone backed into the front of my '90 S4. The damage was slight, but they managed to push their trailer hitch into my original stock radiator, ruining it. This replacement has worked perfectly -- better than the original. Before, my car never overheated, but in the Arizona heat -- stuck in traffic on the freeway -- the gauge would start to creep up to the higher end of normal range. Not quite too hot, but getting pretty close. That's not happened since the new radiator was installed. I don't know if the radiator cools better than the original did when new, but it certainly cools better than my old one did.

Old and original BEHR radiator.

New CSF radiator under similar conditions one day later.

Do yourself and your engine a favor. Install a thermostat, adaptors into the block, and oil hoses.
Hook up the left side oil cooler in the radiator.

I’ve had the CSF since Mark released them and love it. Engine does run cooler. Thanks for a great product Mark and super support from Roger.

Mark,

Quick question for the purists out there. Are those CSF radiators available without the logo on the front and black painted side tanks? That would look stock in a 928 and considering the thermal improvements of this part would be interesting…

No, but your local radiator repair shop can do those things.

With the AC condenser in front and the fan shroud behind it,. you can't see the CSF lettering.

I have a CSF radiator installed in my 1987 and it works very well. Well made, perfect fit, no complaints. The only minor issue is that the plastic plugs for the unused cooling loops don't stay long term. I recommend putting in a proper plug for any unused ports.

I purchased directly from 928 International and would do so again: https://shop.928intl.com/CSF-Univers...8-106-043-CSF/
