Default Fuel pump wiring route

I am currently preparing for my annual maintenance work and following a starting problem, I did not like the look of the wiring in and around the fuel pump area. The insulation looked somewhat cooked so I would like to interdict the wiring back to some location suitable. In this regard I would like to undertand the route the wiring takes from the central electrical area through to the pumps. Did a little investigative work in the hatch area this afternoon and suspect that the wires i am looking for probably route via the spare wheel well thus for the first time I took the plastic cover off and was a bit surprised at the amount of wiring in there.

Much appreciate if one of you kind souls can advise where the fuel pump power supply crosses from the cabin through to the underside of the car. The attached pic shows the spare wheel well wiring- if hte point I am looking for is somewhere on this pic much appreciate if you can highlight such.

Whilst at it, if anyone is so inclined, I would also appreciate some indication of what is what in that area. Presumably a chunk of it is the rear lights there must also be wiring going to the PSD unit, the tranny, the rear lights etc etc.

Move to the right about 12" from the spare tire well, there's a bundle of the harness off of the main rear body harness that dives through the cargo floor. That's the FP harness. Underneath it runs along the fuel tank cradle along with the fuel feed hose from the pump to the right rear wheelwell, underneath the J-shaped plastic cover. No part of the fuel pump harness is in the spare tire area.

Rob,

Many thanks- took a look through the inspection hatch but never thought to take a look at the rest of the hatch area location. At least I did not miss anything obvious in the spare wheel area. I will open the trunking some tomorrow to take a peek and see what may be possible.

Presumably the node you refer is the one on the attached photo below:
