Paint correction on the Caprice would be easier....
Sure - let's do that. If I recall, it's easier if the upper rear bolts of the cover have already been removed (and thrown into your box of 'extra' 928 parts). We'll quite possibly need new exhaust pipe bolts and gaskets.
I recently acquired a dial indicator for this sort of thing.
Not the first time to this rodeo, the bell housing bolts have been shortened, so the exhaust does not have to be hit. But thanks for thinking ahead re dial. I'll bring some tools
I just re-read the info for this event and I gotta tell you I'm really looking forward to this. The weather looks great and the area has tons of things to do and places to see.
Of course I got the same impression when I read it the first time.
The itinerary is full of stuff to do yet untaxing.
I got and a place nearby thru airbnb for the week and the wife and I plan to thoroughly enjoy ourselves.
Looking forward to Camp. Thanks to Dave C. El Guapo is finally fully sorted, properly programed for it's supercharger and ready to rack up the miles that it was built for. What better place to start than Camp 928. See you on Friday!
Zach
Not giving up yet! Have movers coming tomorrow instead of Friday with storage stuff , and if I can get couple rooms painted before the Friday, I’ll try and make it up Friday late morning.
Going to be new route from Maine now. Thru NH and Vermont, 89 to NH RT 202 to Vermont Rt 4

Very good! Can put you up in a room if you’d like.
Arrived in Chestertown today. A great ride from Detroit!
Stopped near Lake Chautauqua for the night. 12 hours driving time with many stops along the way. 700 miles.
Beautiful part of the country with plenty of lakes, wineries, picturesque towns, and scenery.
Winding roads aplenty.
I recently posted This Thread explaining my sentimental attachment for the 928 and that I'm actively searching for one, and was directed to Camp928. It looks fantastic.
I'm in Rockland County, NY, about 3 hrs from 'The Compound' and seriously considering taking a ride up on my motorcycle on Friday and staying until at least Sat. night. Would love to meet, look and learn, and even ride along on the fun runs if possible. Always in search of windy roads on 2 or 4 wheels.
Thinking about camping out, have the basic necessities but haven't done much of it on the bike, and the weather looks like a small chance of rain on Saturday.
Would very much appreciate thoughts and advice for those who will be there.
Yes, please come. I believe the traveling weather will be good. You'll learn a lot. Idyllic roads, too, though the Saturday weather is what we call a "standard" day - probably good most of the day, but maybe a dark cloud passes overhead. NOAA insists on icons that suggest the End is Near. Not a day to tear your roof off, but life should proceed normally, otherwise!
I'm going to set up two tents for general use, and I have a third hotel-sized tent if necessary. Also some cots.
It's very helpful to us to know about how many are coming, and when - thanks. Tomorrow is shopping day...

Thanks,

I've been here only a day and I think its great. Definitely worth the trip.
We're headed out to Fort Ticonderoga today along the twisty roads.
Compared to Michigan, all the roads are exceptional!
928 people are keen to share knowledge about the car.
You'll fit right in.
Long pants, proper footwear, warm jacket (it gets chilly here at night, and the bugs really appreciate those wearing shorts, tank tops and flip flops)
Lawn chair
If camping, towel, etc. Don't pitch your tent within the swale!
Beverages of your choice (Note: our normal wine purveyer, Paul, cannot come this year).
Curt and others, thanks for the quick replies. Clearly my arm did not need to be twisted but I'm convinced. Will pack the tent, sleeping bag and some sundries and head up.
It's just me and the bike, and I plan to head up Friday morning-ish, arriving somewhere between noon and 2pm
The Snow Mexicans are still locked in. Not much hope in anything changing by Friday.
I hope everyone has a great time.
Hah, Snow Mexicans! We don't want your Back Bacon trucks on every corner.
But it's weird - keeping the border closed seems to be a mutual thing. The current closure expires Monday, but looks like it will be extended again, with only slight relief. I read this morning that Canadians are now more vaccinated than the states, although perhaps not more than NY. I had a friend who, when following someone who had slowed for something but afterwards was not resuming normal speed right away, would exclaim "React!"
Biden, Trudeau: React!
We'll have a moment of silent contemplation at the campfire for our Canadian friends. Drinking will be allowed during this contemplation.
