Default 1990 928 GT input shaft/5th gear question

Hi Everyone,
We have a 1990 928 GT that has broken the input shaft, part number 928 302 905 32. 22:32 teeth. this is NLA.
My question is can we fit the earlier 1985/1996 5th gear input shaft, part number 928 302 905 23. 22:32 teeth.

There was a change in the gearbox casing that stated the input shaft bearing outer diameter was changed from 94mm to 100mm along with the input shaft seal housing but it doesn't mention if the earlier input shaft/5th gear would fit the later bearing. The seal is the same part number which may indicate that it does
Regards
Sean

I believe the answer is yes, Greg Brown responded to my similar request in one of my posts.

He alluded to using the GTS input shaft and mentioned there was some modification to complete the fitment. He did not specify the modification.

I would second the suggestion to reach out to Greg.

'85/'86 5th gearset will not work, without some radical modifications.
The better choice is a GTS 5th gear set.
Less modification required.
Dirt cheap, too.

Can you share the modification required?

Before the "last go around" with vendors that I called friends and with people that I spent lots of hours with, only to find out they were stabbing me in the back whenever they got a chance, I would gladly share almost anything.
I used to tell people every little detail that I spent hours and hours figuring out.
Hours and hours of learning "tricks" over the years.....shared.
Hours and hours developing pieces only to have immoral vendors copy things.

Now, ever detail I know is proprietary.
Sorry, the clue I gave you, a few months ago, is the best you're going to do (and I repeated it here, just because I was already in print.)
And truthfully, that's way more than I would tell today.
