Default Mystery 928 part - anyone know what this is?

Anyone know what this is, or where it goes? Guesses?
Part number appears to be 928.423.411.00, but I don't see anything popping up for that. It is aluminum.

That was it, thanks! I wonder why it was removed. Anyway, now it is installed, between the pedal and floor plate.

I read somewhere that it defeats the kick-down switch, for test drives, student drivers, etc. Is your car stick or auto?

It's a stick, 91 GT. The pedal seemed fine without it, but unless there is a reason to remove it again, I figure I'll keep it installed.

It was an extra part when I got the car. I didn't find reference to it in the PET, and it didn't appear to have obvious wear marks from being installed anywhere, so I just kept it in storage over the years.

Fantastic knowledge.
I'm very impressed!

I would not have known what that was.
Not sure I've ever seen one....or paid any attention to it, if I did.

Great part to stick in, when your kids start wanting to drive the car?
Combine that with a change in the the coding plug and it's possible to turn a GT into a 1980 car.

I've removed a couple of them in the past. Both were on automatics.

FWIW, my '91 S4 had one too.
