You should poke me in the eye for using "Zero" to describe the intersection rather than "empty."

A real 365 Daytona is priced outside of drive-it-to-SITM land.

Of course, if I value my '91GT at $150k then it too is getting priced out of the range. But, outside of body damage, it's all fixable by me.

Nope. Had one (an S not GTS.) Great fun. Sure, both look great, perform well and are Porsches. But other than the label on its a$$ the 981 is nothing like a 928. Certainly, nothing like my '91GT. In some ways better. In some ways worse. But overall very little commonality when considering the "subjective" qualities of the experience each offers.

EDIT: of the Porsche range, the 991 Turbo is closer to the 928 in many ways than any of its siblings.

+1 for a nice '92- '95 500E. Smooth Porsche V8 power with the last generation of Mercedes build quality.

Here ya go:

Lots of people with a wide variety of opinions. And budgets.

The OP, Randy, ended up getting a Bentley. When he posted that, I took a look at what was available. Surprisingly cheap to buy.

Depending on the circumstances, another 928, a 'last gen before the re-release' Camaro or maybe a Toyota MR2 (1st or 2nd model).

996 TT . They are still affordable and a complete upgrade.

Not sure I understand the reason for this criteria. The only car that could replace the 928's in my garage is a dream car by default. Something I'd probably have to sell all seven Porsche's to obtain.

On that note, the only replacement for a 928 in my garage would be an Aston Martin Vanquish (2012 or newer), DBS V12, DB11 etc..... or any front engine V12 Ferrari.

The Murf928 kit is still available, just not "on the shelf" like the old days. I'll be supercharging my 87 sooner than later and the goal it to have enough parts made for 4-5 kits. The intercooler for the 85/86 cars is hand made by Twin Turbo Todd and he made a jig to reproduce them.

Had one years ago, at the same time as my bone stock 90 S4. 500e was a rocket comparatively Curb appeal went to the 928 easily..

You didn't specify sports cars so I'll weigh in with my DD, a 1991 VW Vanagon. I've had 3 of these over the years, I smile as much in this car as any of my Porsches, get almost as many thumbs ups too!
