Getting prepared to spend the weekend under the shark.
New box will go in, got my hands on 5spd from -89 GT.
Hopefully it is ok and will out perform my original from 1981.
Big bonus is also a LSD in the new box.
Is there any good write up on the procedure?
Can I do it alone or do I need help?
Greatful for any advice on things to do or not to do.

you will probably need help I have trouble by myself with a lift getting a box where I want it 150 lbs of dead weight . Be very careful not to let the trans hang on the input shaft or you may break the brittle input (5 th gear ) you really do not want to break it .

Thanks Jim,
I will try and build a wooden jig to keep the box in balance when lifting it up.
Since the box is second hand, are there any way of testing if it is ok now before putting it into the car?
I can move the gearshifter shaft at the box back and forth by handpower.
How can I tell that the 5:th gear are not already broken when they took the box out of the car?

I would drop down TT also and put them back after gear lever is set just right etc. Getting them up as single unit is much easier job IMHO than mounting box to TT up there.

Hi Erkka,
that sounds like more weight and a larger part to get in place?
Will start with removing the supension and old box and take it from there.
Cheers/Peter
