Default 1986 - front coilover adjustment

This is probably a silly question. I have the adjustable coilovers on my 1986 (UK) S2. The rears have obvious threads but the fronts have nothing. Am I missing something? There's the collar to adjust (which won't budge but that's not a surprise) but no visible threads.

The threaded collar (attached to the shock tube) is fully inside the outer adjuster.

You can't see it, but it's in there.

85/6 S2 with the invisible adjuster - top strut. On replacing my dampers I managed to collapse the inner adjustment rings and reuse the outers with new inners. Fiddly but possible..
