Samuel, just checked what info I have so far, the other car in question (and referred to be Cheburator/Alex), was not originally a GTS, but a GT renovated by the factory including fitting a GTS engine. It did not have the same special gearbox and other special components as the CS but because of the work done at the factory is certainly an interesting car to find...

By accident I found this article of the car, when it was sold in 2018.

Hi All, quick update on the red 89 CS development car, I am making good progress for the restoration and have located most of the original parts I need.
In addition I’ve been in contact with various race teams in Germany and spec on its sister car the 1990 RDM GT race car with GTS engine.
some photos attached of that car:

Hi Adrian,
With Samuel, We have had a project to restore that car, but we did not achieve it cause of various reasons. But we have had already work on project like yours.
It seems that I am the last one who drove the car on a race track, it was only for entertainement @ club porsche 928 france track days. I did not remember the exact date, but it was certainly in 2012 or 2013.
The car was really nice to drove even though it lacked engine power as the S2 engine in it was really weak, but the race feeling of the car was really nice. It had at that time the GT gear box with no working PSD ('90 GT gearbox)
You have said that the special gearbox should be great, because it has an interesting final ratio. As I drove the car previously, I can tell you, that it is not really the case, because the gearbox is too short and therefore you just drive the car in 4th an 5th gear only.
When I drove it the last time (with the '90 GT gearbox), the Gt ratio seems to me really great, and I can also say that I enjoy it on my own GT cup car.
About the LSD gear box with 80% locking differential, I cannot say how it really works because, the gearbox was really weak and it had seem to me that it was not working at all. It was on a really short track and the gearbox should have worked fine but i'm pretty sure the lsd was not working at all.
Good luck for the restoration of the car. Lot of works had to be done. And I hope you will enjoy reshapping that car as the original '96 specs.
Stéphane

That RDM 003 car, with the centerlocks is absolutely awesome!
The roll cage looks like it was done by the same people who did the 993 Cup Cars, with those door cross brace gussets.
That 928 would be a fantastic car to find!

re gearboxes, I have an 80%LSD in my GTS Cup race car and it works very well in race conditions, but the do wear out much quicker than a standard one. I will put an 80% LSD in the GT box and also rebuild the original Motorsport 928 box and diff.
I’m planning on getting the car back to spec (including the correct CS 32valve engine ), later this year and will share photos of progress and the rebuild at some point.
If you have any photos or videos of the car when you were on track around 2012, can you share them?
thanks
Adrian

yes I think it is a Matter cage, and is a welded cage unlike the CS which has the bolt on Matter cage. Greg are you aware of any racers that have done the centre lock conversion on a 928 (not the clumsy bolt on kits I’ve seen)? I’m curious what hubs or modifications are needed.
When I find the GT2 car will let you know!

Ive seen a few 928’s with centre lock, I recall that included the earlier 928S race cars including the all aluminium body one that Porsche raced in the US and some 928’s that raced at the Nurburgring , I’ll dig out the photos when I get chance.

Every part has either a 935 or a 962 part number written on it.
However, all of the attachment links are custom.
That GT-2 928 appears to have stock looking upper and lower control arms, which makes those spindles very interesting.
Stock spindles machined off, with a centerlock spindle welded on?
