Default ignition lock cylinder replacement

Hi. New member with first porsche(81 928,5spd....been sitting for 3 years but runs!). I have a replacement key/cylinder. The old one was removed by previous owner. (seller started it up with small screwdriver). I have 2 pins , one 3x8mm dowel(2C on parts cat) and one 3x12mm split sleeve(pt 2D). My question is which goes in first? Plus i assume you have to have key engaged in cylinder to align toothed shaft which meshes with corresponding tooth shaft from back of ignition lock housing/ignition switch. I have removed horn cover and freed-up instrument pod so I can access top of cylinder housing and top hole where pins go.Anyone have experience with this swap? I would appreciate and insight and advice you might have. My experience is mainly with old Saabs, Volvos and a 70 Marcos. (simple cars compared to what I have in front of me), thanks
