Updated Guidance: Buying and Selling Things on Rennlist
#31
Users and Members are reminded that there are some rules and such around marketing your items on Rennlist. For a while we've been stepping around some of the rules here, mostly by allowing 928-centric for-sale posts to live here in the tech forum. Justification was (and is) that there's a limited number of cars compared to many others, such that forcing Members to use the Marketplace was not a benefit. This problem exists to greater and lesser extents in several other forums, even though we think we are "special". And we all are, each in our own unique and "special" way. The middle ground on this will initially have us post to the Marketplace, and then have the option of adding a notification post here in the tech forum, with a link to the Marketplace post. We are each responsible for maintaining both if we post in both places. You'll get to answer questions in both places, but of course have the option of adding a post to that Marketplace posting with a link to the tech forum discussion. Everybody got that straight? I think I confused myself with that.
I'll edit this post down as we all get used to using the Marketplace. We'll use a gentle hand at first, so folks can adjust. Within a few weeks though, the only threads for items for sale here must include the link to the Marketplace ad, where you are actually offering your things for sale.
Here's a link to the official policy: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-rennlist.html I'm going to paste a copy of that policy in the next post here, so you don't have to go hunt it down with your mouse.
Questions and comments about the policy should be shared right here in this thread please. I haven't a clue how much flexibility there will be for major changes, but our constructive comments will all be considered going forward.

Rennlist has lost a great deal of credibility and membership through its policies. It is a shame that this forum has fallen so far-so fast.
Clearly, Internet Brands did not understand what they had. Nor do they care to fix functional issues like the search function.
Many valuable contributors are gone - along with their content - forever. They will NEVER come back because of IB policy.

Zunsport grille set 981 Boxster GTS
Hi guys, I am wondering where I will be able to sell my 981 Boxster GTS gloss black Zunsport grille set? This forum is like a jungle to me, hopefully someone can help me out on where to post it :-) Thanks in advance!

The rules are that you have to be a paid rennlist member to sell stuff here. Keeps out the spam. Membership is cheap, and the benefits are good. Pay up and you'll have access to the marketplace where you may post cars and parts for sale. You also have to post an asking price too, to keep ads from becomming auctions.

Rennsport Reunion Camping spot and tickets for sale
I have secured a prime spot for camping along with tickets to the Rennsport Reunion ( 4 days ) beginning September 28th.
The camping space is #108 overlooking turn 4 and turn 5. In my opinion about the best location at the campground. Under an Oak tree along with a fire pit and a close walk to the showers.
Also included are tickets for 2 people for all 4 days.
The camping spaces are sold out.
My cost was $1040, Your cost is $1040

The days of free technical advice are over.
Free consultations will no longer be available.
Will still be in the shop, isolated and exclusively working on project cars, developmental work and products, engines and transmissions.
Have fun with your 928's people!.

To not do it here, almost everyone here already has a 928.
It all depends on what you have into the car, what you think you need for it, and how much effort you're willing to put into the sale. I have had good luck with auction formats (Bring a Trailer) but it's a ton of work to prep, list, photograph, and babysit the auction.

Also, you need to be a paid rennlist member in order to sell anything here, especially a car. Otherwise we’d be overrun with spammers. It’s an inexpensive membership fee, around 20 bucks.

Thanks for sharing the collective wisdom on this. I'm debating between BAT/Cars & Bids/Rennlist. It does seem like a ton of work for any of them vs. Cars.com , but then there's a ton of BS there.
