Curious about this 928
Forgive my "newbie" questions, but I spotted this 928 on ebay and was a little confused. Its listed as an 89 928S.

Was Porsche still making the S models in 89? Did this car have the same HP rating as the S4 of the same year?
I'm sure there is a page out there somewhere with this type of info. If anyone has a link to something like that, Please post it or I'm afraid I'll wear out my welcome asking too many questions!
Thanks for any replies.

316 HP vs. 326 in the GT.
Looks like it is in nice shape.
Pricey though.
Look at Dave Robert's site for specs.

Hi Wayne,
If you are considering buying from this dealer do so with your eyes wide open. Get a PPI by a local P dealer. I didn't (foolhardy) but was just lucky.
I bought mine from this dealer and had no problems at all, however there is a history of issues, so be careful.
PM me if you need more info.
Roger

I have communicated with several people on this list who bought from this dealer and were VERY unhappy when they got the car. Roger is one of the lucky ones who dodged a bullit buying from these folks!

Newberry,
Please reference the link provided (so kindly) by Porsche1662. It's a small tip of a very large iceberg.
As a semi-long-term denizen of area, I will simply tell you that the saying among the automotive cogniscenti is that "if you're buying a car on N. Lindbergh, you know what you're getting". This is NOT a positive affirmation. It means you need to bring a shovel. Either for the parts that fall off, the BS that piles up, or, ultimately, to bury the body.
There's lots more to it, but it's not appropriate fodder for the forum. Make your own informed decision.
And, no, I've never. But if one doesn't know the history, it would be easy to get sucked in.

Thanks for the replies all. I'm not really interested in purchasing this 928 (not really into red) but more interested in learning the differences between models. I found it interesting that this model was listed as an "S" and wondered if I was mistaken about the models vs the years produced. You guys cleared that up Thanks you!
Wow, this guy sounds like a nightmare to deal with. A shame really after reading the link (Thanks). I will probably buy off an individual whenever my "right one" comes along. Until that time I will be doing my best to become as well informed as possible.
Thanks again,
Wayne
