Has anyone used 3M Crystalline non tinted laminate on the front windshield and the back hatch glass with success? Does it keep the heat out and help protect the interior as claimed?

Fantastic stuff. I put it all around on my GTS. Given the expense of sun damage on a 928 interior its a good investment, although a little expensive. I think it was about $500 to to my whole car.

My demo of it was a 3M company truck on a hot day, half the windscreen had it, half didnt. It was interesting.

It's thick, and may require window out to do it best..when its time for a replacement.

I don't know if they fixed it yet but a few years ago they had issues with the film discoloring over time.
It got so bad the shop I used stopped carrying 3M tint and carries Suntek instead because of all of the warranty work.
I have that in my 81 and it worked fantastically. It wasn't cheap though ~$600 on sale to do the whole car sans rear window (went for a super clear tint you don't notice).
Either way these tints really keep the heat out of the car. It is noticeable while driving and it really aids AC performance.
Just know that if you tint your windshield and you get a stone chip the glass will crack from the difference in thermal expansion of the glass and film.
Happened to me with my car sitting in the shade a few months after a proper epoxy repair

Its a chip, a weak point in a tempered glass panel...50/50 it was gunna spread.

Yes on the inside just like a tint. I went with ceramic tint on my 87 including the windshield. From what I have read the only reason to go with this 3M product is if you want your windows to remain clear. Ceramic tint films are still better and cheaper.

Ya..and it SOFT.
I did a pod R&R, and it left a mark.
And, dont let ANYONE else clean the inside of the glass, its literally a firm rubber like surface, you can mar it easily.
And it will always be right where you look at it.

BUT, other than that, its a just barely noticeable shade darker, but..unless the other windows were 100% OE, you would never know..and even so, you have to want to notice it.
...now I wanna do mine now..I had my glass replaced a few years back..

Thinking about this again, I think I recall that I got some marking on the inside of the door glass from the felt guides. Not that much heat from those anyway, so to do it again I think I would leave it at front, rear, and quarters.
