So I was working on replacing the vacuum line under my manifold that connects to the diaphragm by laying on top of the engine. Took all the precautions... but alas... i put my hand on the throttle box and ended up breaking the bowden cable tabs that hold it to the body. Is this plastic piece available somewhere I can get separately or am I down for the replacement of the entire cable. Gonna suck wind if that is the case!
Similar thing happened on my cruise control cable - the plastic fittings have stock metric threads. I took two steel nuts and washers, cut a slit in each one the width of the cable with my Dremel then installed each side of the retaining plate- just go easy fastening them given they ride on plastic not steel. I tried it as a stop gap pending replacement a few years ago and they are still there today.
Nothing to lose as it were and relatively easy to facilitate as long as there is space to fit them which may or may not be the case on the throttle cable.
Quick update. I used a zip tie and inserted a number of locking edges in it to create a new star shaped lock ring and tied it up and its solid in its place. I guess patch gap until the new cable comes. Cost for new cable was $26... should be here in a few days (hopefully). Just worries about the readjustments needed if i end up replacing it...
