Headlight lens MIA
Upon returning home yesterday I noticed that my headlight lens had decided not stick around. No damage, just missing. No reason why.
Anyone seen this before?

I'm not sure the glue dries up. I suspect it's just caused by vibration gradually working it loose. Might be a good idea to pop the whole assembly in the oven at about 210F every 10 years or so. That seems to be enough to soften the glue and re-seal them when they cool down.

I think Roger sells replacement lens's. I have a few H4's sitting around somewhere. I can always rob the lens out of one of them. This lens did not have the little bump on the top edge.

There's a thread nearby that includes some Rob Edwards description on how he replaced a fog light lens with one of Roger's replacements. That same procedure discusses the adhesive and process you'll use regardless of whether you replace with plastic or a spare glass lens you have. Good idea to do both, at least the R&R with new adhesive. There's a reasonable chance the both assemblies have enjoyed the same lifestyle.

I have rebuilt a few in the past and I still have some spare parts. I used a heat gun and 3m adhesive and took my time.
I was just surprised to see that it was suddenly gone. I have 3m film on the face for both, trying to fend off incoming projectiles.

The adhesive of choice is Morimoto RetroRubber Resealing glue. Roger's polycarbonate H4 lens is around $220 - 250 if I recall correctly. Good to have a wife who allows headlights in the oven...
