Default E.l. 80-89 Porsche 928 N/t 170mph Glow Gauges

anyone have any comments on these ? Hard to install ? Work good ?
I wouldn't mind a inexpensive upgrade to my black face gauges and I think the white would look good in my black interior. But, usually true you get what you pay for....
so anyone with any experience with these ?

I ordered them, but failed to notice that they did not match up to my EURO gauges...the speed and tach numbers are a little different on mine. Also would not accomodate the "econometer" and will not show the gear indicators for an Auto.

BIGGEST THING - The seller is a real A$$HOLE! When I emailed him that I needed to trade for the correct ones, he essentially told me to go f... myself, and then left me a FALSE negative feedback, saying that I wanted to "Trial" them...I paid for them immediately upon purchase, and only asked if he had the one's to fit my car.

Check his feedback - you will see that all his Negs are the fault of the buyer - to whom he leaves a negative!!!

I would find a DIFFERENT seller/source.

One more thing...his ad states:"Needles will not have to be removed for installation."

Look at the gauges...look at your needles....

He would also probably tell you that the pod doesn't have to come out, either!!

Maybe his new "kit" is a can of white spray paint!

Oh, and that won't be working for a 89+ 928. Digital dash friends.

I'm guessing that the needles don't need to be removed because the gauges are slit to the edge so that you can just slide them around the post.

I have them on my car. Yes, the seller is not customer oriented. I wanted them to convert my Canadian speedo to MPH and they worked for that. You don't have to remove the needles and they are not slit to fit over them. You merely position the needles and slip them through the holes. The speedo and tach faces work fine and the calibration from KPH to MPH is very nearly exact, verified by my GPS. The other two faces have issues though. The needle holes don't exactly line up with the needle centers. Infact, they are way off, but functional. The windows for the warning lights, low fuel, volts, high temp, low oil pressure are also not lined up correctly. I fiddled with them 3 or 4 times before I got them to line up, then secured them with a couple of tiny dabs of black silicone sealer which allows them to be removed if desired. Since I had to poistion the light windows correctly, the lines are a bit off but they are still functional. I also took a black marker to cover some of the white showing on the bottom of the tach warning light window.

To sum it all up, they did what I wanted them to do, they are a hassle, and I read that the Speedhut ones are better (no first hand experience) after I muddled around with these pieces of crap for a few hours.

By the way, if anyone has these and are going to install them, a bright flashlight shining through te edge of the gauges will illuminate the little warning lights enough to line them up.

Good luck.

I think Normy has the Speedhut gage faces, hopefully he will chime in. I have spoke with them and will be using their product shortly. Very customer oriented, and good with answering questions.

Normy does have the Speedhut gauges.

Just as Jim said, this company produces a good, professional product. The kit is well designed and the instructions are pretty clear.

I put the red reverse indiglo in my car; you have to remove the gauge cluster to do this properly, since you have to remove two of the needles. The only problem with this whole setup is that the needles are not illuminated- I wound up putting my bulbs back in and painting the needles white so that I could see them.

Best of luck!

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between the '78-79 and '80+ pods that make this product unusble for the older models?

None Cobey...its just that the later cars had gauges that read higher, so the replacement gauges have to as well.
