Have you thought about taking advantage of Roger's service for refinishing these parts? I think that's the path that I will go even though, as usual, I am inclined to try to do it myself. Like you're worried about, this is a good way to destroy an engine. Dr Blast is on the forums, as well, and has good prices; not sure if he's working with Roger or not, but it seems to me that you have 2 pretty good commercial options.

If you go with dry ice blasting, I'd love to see how that works. I just learned about it recently and would love to see it in action, though I'm looking at it more for cleaning up all the accumulated crap from the bottom of my car and engine bay.

Cheers
