Hope everyone is doing well.

My 81 HVAC vacuum lines are messed up. Not routed properly, I think. I have manual temperature setting.

I looked in the WSM and here on Rennlist. Found Brad's post from April 2009. Very nice, thanks.

One difference between the WSM & Rennlist diagrams and my setup is, my vehicle does not have a violet hose running from the control to flap “A”.



My question is(are):

— is there another diagram for different years?

—is the WSM for manual or automatic control?

—does anyone have experience with the missing violet vacuum line?

Found out a ton (or is that tonne, as this is a German car...lol) about the HVAC systems in 80s Porsches in general and mine in particular.

I have a 1981 5-speed w/competition package. For some reason the vehicle has a manual control HVAC head and wire control for the temperature (I've heard that is not the norm for an '81 as most were either automatic and/or non-wire control for the temperature).
The vacuum hose routing is not standard and not special (took a while to get my head around that thought). There are hoses missing (violet and orange). Yet, I have more red than is specified.

The hose routing encompasses parts of the early year's HVAC and not.

I will document this vehicle's system as I go and post here so those with more knowledge can help me make sense of it.
