Default Cruise Control Vacuum Actuator

Hi All,

Any threads on the CC focus on the brains, after fixing mine the CC worked fine unless on a long fast uphill bit of road. Although the WSM testing of the actuator seemed to work as it should, it used up all the capacity of the reservoir and wasn’t at 100% open throttle. Anyway made a short video of my testing and then pulling it apart out of curiosity. These things draw in outside air from behind the wheel well when the vacuum is released so moisture gets in causing the corrosion you see.

COVID meant the road was empty but YouTube are reducing the video quality for the same reason.

Thanks,
Gary

Thanks Gary - never seen inside one - fascinating.
I have a couple in my shop and you are welcome to one as a replacement.
TX car so should be no corrosion.

Thanks Roger, I ordered a second hand one already but if there’s any issues I’ll mail you for one. It looks like I could get 4 or 5 used and try them for the price of a new one ;-)

Lol, that warning sign has been there forever but there’s no actual camera.Maybe my CC is smarter than Tesla’s and it sees it ;-)

So I got a good quality used replacement and it had the same vacuum leak so assume its a fairly common issue or I've been very unlucky.
The leak is from around the crimped band at the base so sealed all around the band with Tigerseal and pulled a vacuum to draw it into wherever the failure was and its now working perfectly on the bench.
