Default Fresh Air Blower not working

My fresh air blower is not working I thought the problem was fuse #20 because the socket was fried! Repaired the socket and checked and cleaned all the fuses. I have 12v going to fuse #20
I also have 12v going to fuse #37 (A/C system)

Any ideas where to start?

Thanks
Dan

You could try pulling the power supply connector and test the motor directly with 12V.

Any idea why the socket fried?

You said you have power to fuse 20.....does that include going across the fuse? (power on the downstream side)

I am embarrased to say that I was driving around a year ago while taking a break from working behind the console. The hvac controller was hanging out of the hole, radio out, etc. I could not get my fan to work while i was driving. I pulled over and immediately checked the fuse, cussed, etc. After checking voltage everywhere in a grocery store parking lot, I realized that the ventilation slider was in the off position.

Relay relay relay.....
Replace relay XII. It's a standard 53 relay on a 90GT. 6th relay from the left on the top row of the Central fuse panel

i check that rely when I had the panel out and it “seemed” ok, it had the same resistance reading as the one next to it and didn’t appear to have any obvious heat damage but I could still be bad? I’ll ck it again
thanks

Swap the horn relay. Worked to determine a bad fan relay on my '82.

I’ll try that, first I’ve got to find the blower? Any idea on how to access it?
Thanks

The electrical connector will be under the plastic cowling cover at the rear of the engine compartment (where the wiper motor resides)

The blower works when connected to 12v
im not 100% sure I tried the blower on high b4? But it now works on high only. I moved the lower selector back and forth and put it on defrost and the blower came on and now works on any lower lever setting, but on high only? The “AC” button now lights up when pushed and the compressor clutch clicks but the clutch itself is fried when the AC seized.

Im doing all this now because my AC isn’t working, I’m pretty sure the compressor is locked up. I’m going to take it to an AC shop but want to get everything I can working first.

Must be the blower speed control switch? Or, is there something else I should ck first?

thanks

I pulled the rely and tested, I’m sure it’s working ok. My blower now works on high ONLY? I’m guessing the problem must be at the blower switch or on the control unit?
Thanks

Try removing and taking apart the controller head unit. I found the contact tracks needed to be cleaned and got the fan to work on my '89. I checked everything from the motor backwards and ended up there. This write up explains removal and repair:
