Club Sport Wheels
Anyone have a set of 16"x7" and 16"x9" Club Sport Wheels they want to part with?
I love the way they look, very unique and very Porsche. You don't see a lot of 7 spoke designs out there.
I'd be chroming them anyhow, so finish is (mostly) not an issue.

Club sports are very rare. I hope you won't destroy a set by chroming them.

I'm usually an "originality" nut, but I would make an exception here.

I like my CS wheels, and they would look pretty damn fine chromed......

Chroming a set of forged Club Sport wheels? Heresy! The whole point of the forging process is to keep the molecular structure of the aluminum intact - I think the chroming process would degrade that.
If you must have shiny Club Sport wheels you could have them polished and then clear-coated. Personally, I think the anodized look is superior because the anodizing process is certainly more expensive than the polishing or chroming process. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side!

I emailed the guys at Wheel Enhancements about the club sports they had, he's asking about $2k when it's all said and done. Since the damage is done already, I figure I wouldn't be contributing to the problem.
As for the molecular bonding issue, I'm not aware that there is any significant affect on the molecular structure of a metal in the chemical coating process of a set of forged wheels. As for anodizing, it's more expensive for the same reasons Porsche is more expensive, it's a less common (over engineered) approach to the same problem. I have anodized items that I wear with my uniform however, and I can see that there is a definite advantage of anodizing over mere coatings. Given the choice, a set of highly polished hard nickel or chrome anodized CS would be ideal.
Gretch, I love your car, it's like mine only younger and better looking. Aghh I'm forty at twenty five (this friday).
86.5 Tiburon (can I call you El Sharko instead, Hyundai has the rites on Tiburon). I'll shoot you a PM right now.
What size tires are realistic for these wheels? I know it's 255 in the back, but can you go a little bigger, like 275? Is offset even an issue?

Tim,
Contact Bob Votcheff at goattail@telus.net
He had a set of chromed GT CS rims not too long ago. Don't know if they've sold yet. Since the heresy has already been done you don't have to feel guilty about chroming an anodized set.
