Default S4 rear hatch glass leak

Hi
noticed a few drips coming from trim on rear hatch on piece right beside the glass so not on main body about half way down just wondered if this was common ie rear glass seal failing ?
Havent attempted to remove outside trim yet as dont want to damage it
cheers

Not wishing to be alarmist but I have seen leaks in the rear quarter glass due to corrosion on UK based 928's- hopefully not the case here.

Short of lifting the trim and taking a peak I cannot think of anything more constructive to advise- lifting the trim is a bit of an art form- hopefully you will get some tips from the list about how best to do this [or youtube].

On the bright side not the kind of problem we generally get over here but believe it or not there is a sort of coastal oasis a few km west of where I live with lots of greenery and cars that do corrode there!

I’d suggest removing the interior trim from around the hatch lid as it’s less risky, and get someone to run water over the area while you’re locked in the back with a flashlight. You might find the source is not where you expect and you’ve maybe got a few cheap plastic clips to replace rather than the glass and/or seal.

I am aware of where you said the leak was - just saying that these cars are not impervious to rust [& leaks] albeit I very much doubt that is the problem here.

As you say sun burnt the hatch glass is held in by butyle tape none setting get's fecked by weather and sun . have it bonded in like the front screen but you will have to get the screen person to get spme spacers on the edge whear the sealent is because the weight of the screen will push the sealent down and the you will have a large gap on the out side trims are.
