painted the brake calipers
After I searched the archives regarding painting the brake calipers, I did it this weekend. I used Plasti-cote Brake caliper paint from Pep Boys and applied a Porsche brake caliper decal from Porsche decals. Total cost was $6+6+7 and the time to clean up the calipers. It looks great. Hopefully the pictures came through.
I also installed the 930S steering wheel, change the short shifter boot to black, and redid the back Porsche decal and added a 928S decal.

I did mine about 3 yrs ago now, the same way, well, i did take them off the car. They still look great after daily driving and a few DE's.
The work is all in the prep.

OK OK I get the prize for the stupid question of the day!!!
However I am about to paint mine and I am concerned with taking off the calipers. How easy is it to bleed the brakes once the caliper/calipers are back in place?

Email me for more pictures @ eemeier@aol.com, as I did tape up the area and did not remove anything but the wheel. The decals are at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2465042146

I also painted mine without removing them.
It all depends on how obsessive you are.
Red calipers are for looks.
They won't make you stop any better.
So for me, I only care about what I can see.
I do not care if the inner surfaces are painted.
They will quickly be covered in brake dust anyhow.

Here's a shot of my GT wheel/brake combo. I did mine about 3 years ago with ceramic based engine block paint (which is a pain to shoot, because it is very thin, and will run easily) while they were still installed on the car. I just masked everything off, scuffed the existing paint with sand paper, cleaned them off with laquer thinner, and shot about six coats of yellow. After drying, I went over the Porsche lettering with a few coats of red. They really look good on a guards red 928, because the yellow helps to break up all that red. I also painted the "hat" section of the cast hole rotors I bought, before installing them. With the Riva wheels I'm running, it really shows off those brakes!!!!!!!
