Default red button on left side of instrument pod ?

Perhaps I'm missing something obvious to others but I have no idea what this button does.

Looks like an aftermarket addition by some previous owner.
You're probably going to have to trace the wiring to find what it's connected to.

No idea... I've seen kick-down buttons mounted by the shifter but that seems like a weird location for that.

Thanks for the replies! Josh, I think you have hit on it. This vehicle had an aftermarket alarm which I removed, and this may have been a way to turn it off. Anyway, it does nothing now and the wiring behind it has been restored.

John

Is it actually a button or just a light. Usually the aftermarket alarms had a light that would blink in a visible location as a deterrent to make the thrives move on to another car. The button to defeat the alarm was usually mounted in an obscure location that only the owner knew as a backup, not in the most visible spot for a the if to shut it off.

If it's actually a button,, could have been a valet mode button that keeps the alarm from automatically setting and the light in it indicates it was in that mode, but that was usually a toggle switch, also hidden somewhere.

You guys are good! It is indeed just a light. Thank you very much.
