Rapidly fluctuating voltage above 2800 rpm?

I just reinstalled the pod in my US 83 after a bulb refresh and noticed rapidly fluctuating voltage on the in dash meter during a test drive, but only sometimes. Later in the driveway I found it was rpm dependent... below about 2800 rpm I have solid voltage, showing about 14v. Above that rpm the voltage rapidly flutters from about 12-14v and I noticed the pod lights varying in unison. But once below 2800, solid readings again.
Did a quick search but didn’t see anything quite like this.
Any ideas? Alternator going south? I don’t hear any belt slippage and belt tension seems ok. New belts six months ago and I’ve barely driven since then. The alternator is OE but dates back to at least the early 90s.

Hey Stan - I haven’t. 30 years of carefree service there. What’s the procedure?
EDIT: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...placement.html
That link even refers to symptoms like mine (no problems until higher rpm). Looks like I’ll be removing the alternator for an inspection.

Have you tried checking the voltage at the hot post?
It could be the voltage bouncing around, but seeing as you just had the pod out, I'd think it more likely that you have some connection issues in the pod.
