Default Clutch Release Arm Bushing Lube?

Quick Q as I finally finish up my clutch/TT/transmission project on my ‘78:

Is it recommended to put the Porsche sticky grease inside of the socket of the clutch release arm where the plastic ball cup fits into? I assume not because there’s a tiny vent hole at the bottom of the socket and that would likely get clogged if grease is used. Figured I should check though.

Thanks.

Bushing to fork=dry.
Bushing to ball=Thin layer of Porsche high pressure grease seems to prolong the life of the bushiing. A thick layer makes it tough for the bushing to "pop" over the ball, but won't hurt anything, other than that.

The fact that your arm has been worn by the bushing disintegrating is the biggest problem. The ball has, at some point in time, been metal to metal with the arm....wearing the arm and possibly the ball. Check the top of the ball to see if it is damaged. Depending on what update was done at what point in time, should also influence what you are doing. If you have a ball with a 6mm threaded shaft (or a press in shaft), you should remove the bell housing and machine it for the later ball with 8mm threads and order the updated ball.

Thanks.

The car has the updated ball and the old cup was in good condition when I removed it. I’d guess that any metal to metal contact would have been from more than 3 years ago based on ownership history and documentation. The ball stud was quite smooth before I installed the new cup with sticky grease.
