Default ABS relay issues for the electrically inclined

Does anybody with an electrical background care to explain the difference between the ABS relay and a bog standard 53b relay? From the schematics it shows that the difference between the two is a diode and a 10A rating in the abs relay. 53b relay has no diode and rated 40A.

My ABS warning light came on today, and while I was fiddling with the relays I tried plugging in a 53 relay and the warning light disappeared? replaced it back with the abs relay and the warning light came back on.

Pictures attached for reference.

The ABS relay drives a very highly inductive solenoid load & this relay supply bypass diode protects the rest of the car from very high induced voltage spikes when the relay turns off.

You need this special relay.
