928s Euro '80 parking light dash indicator not turning on
Hi Everyone,
The marked light in the following picture:
will not turn on for me. I already checked the bulb. I believe the condition for this light to turn on is ignition=0 and turn signal set to left or right. Is this correct?
Thanks,
Lars

Ignition = 0 is ignition off correct?
I think you need ignition in 1 or 2.for the turn signals to function, which illuminate that light (flashing in sequence with the signal).

Ignition=0 means ignition off, yes. The lights that flash in sequence with the turn signal are not on this gauge, but positioned slightly above and to the right of it:
I want to enable the top light on the gauge.
I believe the owner's manual says something about an indicator for the parking lights (leaving some lights on on either side of the vehicle while ignition is off for visibility's sake)

Ok, yes, when you place the turn signal lever in the left or right position with the ignition in 0 the car should illuminate the corresponding side's parking lights. I do not believe there is a dash warning light associated with this condition, though the lights on door open chime should sound.
the directional indicator lights you point out in your first image of the fuel/temp gauge is for trailer lights, if your car came with the optional tow hitch.

Don't have your car but do have wiring diagrams, for US cars anyway. From those US diagrams:
The indicator labeled "parking lights" in the cluster gets power from the headlight switch via a dedicated internal contact at terminal 57 (gray with green tracer). The switch contacts show that it should be active regardless of ignition switch position whenever the headlight switch is in position 1 or 2 (parking lights or headlights on).
The diagram also shows a function labeled "parking light contact" that transfers battery power via the ignition switch when key is in position 0 only, then selectively to headlight switch terminals 58L and 58R when the turn signal switch is active. 58L and 58R are the parking light terminals so the selected left or right parking light circuit is illuminated by the turn signal lever when the key is off. The wires from the headlight switch pass to fuses 28 (left) and 29 (right) and the individual front side marker and parking lamp circuits. Those wires also continue in parallel to the "lamp control unit", which detects failures in the rear side marker and tail light circuits as current passes to those lamps. The "lamp control unit" passes two individual failure alarm signals to the "central warning unit", one for a rear marker or tail light failure, the other for a brake light failure. There is no dedicated cluster indicator/function that shows when the turn signal lever is active and key is in off position, when we expect the lights on the left or right side to be illuminated. Further, the normal lights-on indicator bulbs do not illuminate unless the headlight switch is in position 1 or 2, and regardless of the position of the turn signal switch.
Again, this is from the US wiring diagrams. Generally, the differences between pre-S4 US and ROW lighting is limited to fog and driving lights functions plus the addition of a separate rear fog light circuit for some ROW markets.
Hope this helps!

Allright thanks everyone, never would have guessed this indicator is for trailer lights. That clears up my problem!
My parking light indicator only comes on in light switch position 1. Are you sure the indicator is also on in position 2?

My Parking Light indicator is only on if the light switch is rotated to the first position for parking lights. Once I move it further and the headlights pop up and turn on, the parking lights indicator goes away.

The diagram for the contacts at the ignition switch appears to have that work in both positions, but the PDF drawing I was looking at is a less than perfect copy. It's quite possible it only works in position 1. To me, it makes sense to let you know the parking lights circuit is still active after key off while the headlights are still raised. But I didn't design it.
