and i'm in Ireland so shipping, customs and 3-4 weeks lead time rule that out, and means we have to share our way forward with what we can get locally on the forum

I have ordered parts (and other things) from the USA on many occasions over the years but the experience has been very hit and miss. At the very least it takes a couple of weeks at worst (and not untypical) it can sit in a Customs warehouse for a month without anybody bothering to tell you. Then you get hit with a "Customs handling charge" the exceeds the value of the item. So, I avoid it unless there's no choice.

On the other hand, I can get stuff from anywhere within Europe often the next day. Although I'm sure Brexit will fix that

I was aware that the main sources of expertise where in the US. Unless anybody knows differently, I've found nobody at all in Germany - which is very counter intuitive.

Roger ships from Texas to Germany on a regular basis and it takes 3 working days from door to door. DHL-Express is the way to go. Not cheap (those times are long gone) but anything else does not make a lot of sense unless you have a lot of time.

No expertise about the 928 in Germany? This is a joke (I hope). How good is your German???

Not what I said. I said I hadn't "found" anybody in Germany (the main English language forum being USA based) - I am very prepared to be educated about European suppliers of 928 stuff. I worked in Germany for quite some time. My German is terrible

The 928 forum inside the PFF platform is a great resource. It is not as big as big as Rennlist but there are some very knowledgeable people there. But without German it'll just not work for you...

BTW do you know Mittelmotor (company)?

Oops...I should have noted your location. That definitely does change a few things

More generally, I try to use my local suppliers. If we don’t encourage our local suppliers then they won’t still be there when we need them ;-)

The local dealer is very helpful - and up until now actually cheaper than anywhere else for genuine parts - but they don't see many 928s any more I suspect!
