Clutch Master blue hose

I recently did my '79 and my '82. Man, what a pain. On a previous thread someone said it is possible to replace the hose without removing the clutch master cyl, but on know that on my '79 the hose was turned at a funny angle at the cylinder end and was also pinched between the firewall on the brake booster, so I had to pull the cylinder. My '82 actually broke the spring in the m.c. so it had to come out as well.
Two things to consider: 1) if the problems with the hose are mostly at the reservor end consider splicing the hose. 2) if you have to pull the m.c. by all means replace it if you can possibly afford to do so. You just don't want to do it twice.
The m.c. change out job takes a long time...it can be really hard or somewhat easy to loosen the lines and get it out of the hole. Re-install on an 82 is harder than the '79 because the output line is all metal rather than 10 inches of flex line then metal as on the '79. Bleeding takes hours and hours and hours if you just bleed from the bottom.
I did not pull the booster on either car. I did think about it and on the '79 I would have done it except that all the lines on the brake m.c. were frozen. On my '82 I did not even loosen it, but on the '79 I loosend it and pulled as far out as I could.

Took me about 1 1/2 hours but I got the Brake Master Cyld off. (must use a 11 mm flare wrench for the lines) and loosened the brake booster. It's still in the way but I can see the blue hose. I cut off the hose from the clutch master. The nozzel from the clutch master swivels and can break easily. Not a fun job but since the hood is off.....
Damm the outer brad for the blue hose is frayed but the hose is not leaking, in fair shape. Could of gotten more years out of it. Hate when I replace good parts.

I read the thread before. Belive me its easier to loosen the booster than to twist your arm blindly in the engine compartment feeling for the clutch master cyld.
