Question sHARk info needed fast!

At the expense of my SC plans I am bidding on the 79' Green Euro, Auto Ebay- for my son Zack -could be a big mistake, eh?- but there is another bidder (real or shill) that is using the proxy auto-bid/bump feature.
I know because I tickled the auction twice and was outbid as fast as I could hit the submit button. In any case, I feel the auction could get out of control fast and excede MY estimate of value for a 79'.
As an option I have been following a Silver/grey 861/2 on Ebay currently located in LA/CA the reserve was low and currently the car is going for about $5500 with less than 2 hours left on the auction. Does anyone have any knowledge or pertinent info on this car?
Any help appreciated.

I don't know, I looked at both cars and the 86 1/2 looks like the better way to go even if it's in a little worse condition (which I don't think it is).

I hate to comment on cars seen on eBay because you have no idea who on the list might be the seller, but there's a few red flags for me if I were looking at the '79. Mileage may be off due to broken or replaced speedo; driver's seat seems awful worn for 53K. The repaint and addition of "S" spoilers could be bad if a poor job was done. I can't tell for sure from the pics but it looks as if the dash is vinyl or a dashcap and the console is leather.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a car thru eBay unless I or a list member could get a real look at it, but of the 2 you listed the 86 looks the better ride to me for the price.

Get the 86 John, that Euro is still going to be low on horses. It may not be the "Red" 86.5 you've always wanted, but you will be much happier with that then with the Euro.

Unhappy

Thanks guy's,
I realize now that I'm hyping myself into sHARk Fever.
My MOM -Pattycakes namesake- always warned:
"Never grocery shop when your hungry"! And," fools rush in where angels fear to tread."
Sage advice. Time to regroup.
I think I'll drop Jessa a line RE: her Weissach. Although she said there might be some Interior issues she just changed the H2o pump and TB within the year and I would still have the buicks for a SC on Pattycakes,
Besides, I know what Zack would be doing in a 861/2...I just wouldn't be able to catch him!
Yea, though I walk into the valley of debt...
I shall fear no maintenance issues.

John, I dont know if you would be interested in a non running car, I haven't seen it. There's a 1980 Euro "S" on Auto trader in San Antonio. Says complete except radiator, interior trashed of course. Maybe cheap? 300hp and a five speed.

Anthony,
No Thanks !!!
Although you sure can get at a lot of maintenance glitches if you tear the interior out. I honestly believe you can drain a bank account in a hurry if you shoot for a CLEAN interior restoration.
Hey! Dennis Wilson couldn't PM me so I cleared my PM BOX.
Then I noticed you had PM'd me when I was clearing my regular E mail acct on ***.net... Did I miss something important, if so sorry!
If it was important hit me again.

It's still full according to the server. So, I'll just post it here:
It's soon to be that time of the year for great Trout and Red fishing. You and Zach should try and get some time in April, May, June. Don't tell Zach that "Girls Gone Wild" will be here in a couple of weeks to shoot their next video!

Anthony,
Can't promise but I do have to burn off a lot of Comp time or lose it, I'm all for it and I'd like to see your sHARk since the repaint.
If I get Zack his own sHARk maybe we could have a mini- 3rd Coast
