My records show that I got my bars in May of 2015. I got them shortly after he announced that the bars for the older cars were available again. So spring of 15 is my best guess.

You said you have an 82 (Euro S, which is pretty cool, but doesn't matter for this). You need 'early car' bars. Either the original production with the curved bar, or new production. As noted below, you can get in touch with Ken and he will make sure you get the right ones (even if you don't buy new ones - he's pretty nice about it).

There are two types - the early bars, for 928's only, from 77 to 86, then the modern bars, for 86.5 forward. What I do not know is whether the Euro jack points changed from the old style before the S4 came out. I suspect all Euro cars through 1986 have the same jack points (there is no such thing as an 86.5 Euro car). You need to verify with Ken - call him or send him an email.
Perhaps a bit pedantic, but my understanding is that the S4 'goodies' were on all 86 RoW (Euro). So all 86 Euros are '86.5 spec'. US market cars are the only ones that have 'early' jackpoints (and suspension, brakes & exhaust) in 86 MY (VIN below 1000).

Just so I'm clear Joe - are you saying that early jack points on the 928 body only apply to US spec cars from 77 to 86? And conversely, the jack points on the RoW cars were always in the same configuration from 77 to 95?

Thanks and after the vin decode it became even cooler...
There were 677 1982 Euro S 5-speeds. Only 146 had the LSD. Only 62 of those did not have a sunroof. Only 8 of those had the optional Bamberg QTS radio. And 4 of those had the C99 country code. I'd say that's a pretty unusual and desirable 928.

1982
C99 - Country Code: "Special"
M28.11 - engine serial # range 82 C 0001>5000
G28.05 - transmission serial # range 11C 0001>9999

M058 - "Impact absorbers front and rear, Bumper with shock absorber instead of
shock absorber-tube"
I126 - Blaupunkt Bamberg QTS Cassette radio 7 639 545 110 (digital) with ARI (Autofahrer-Rundfunk-Informationssystem)
M220 - Limited Slip Differential, 40%
M438 - 6-way Comfort seat right, electrically adjustable, 78-84
I455 - Wheel locks
M533 - Alarm

The ‘early’ lift points apply to 77-85 RoW and 77-86.5 N.A. As far as know.

Bottom line: if you have an ‘86 roll underneath and look or get the one-size-fits-all.

Hey @PorKen ? Wanna make some Macan lift bars? (Stupid Audi unibody...)

No. Not even close. I'm not sure how you are reading it that way. See below.

^This. "Early" is 78-86 US and 78-85 Euro.
"Later" is 86.5-95 US and 86-95 Euro.

Again, all Euro 86MY cars are '86.5' configuration with the S4 jackpoints, brakes, suspension and exhaust. US cars are the only ones with a '86' configuration and an '86.5' configuration. (maybe it's a bit clearer without the parenthetical phrases in the middle).

There has been a comment on FB that there are 86 Euros with the early configuration, but that goes against everything I've read on here.

The above is what I always understood. Your prior post seemed confusing to me. All's well that ends well!
