Default 1978 OB Water Bridge Hose Access

I’m doing a coolant swap today and I can’t figure out how to get access to the hose clamp on the 1” water bridge hose circled in red. More specifically, Is there a way to remove without having to remove the larger upper radiator hose? I’d prefer not to make any more mess than I already have....

Thanks folks.

Never mind. A wobble ratchet extension on a standard screwdriver bit did the trick.

As is usually the case, tightening her back up was much more labor intensive than loosening it!

Snapon makes a nice set of long screw drivers they are about 2 feet long very handy for WB hose clamps

I'll look into that.

BTW, your trick with using an air compressor to blow out the heater core was brilliant!

Long screwdrivers are invaluable every now and again, as in this case! Have one ~18" and a 21" acquired over the years. Useful on the oil filler top hose connection.

Agreed. My issue yesterday was that it’s not a straight shot to that hose clamp. The upper radiator hose is in the way just enough to require some sort of flex to the screwdriver. Unfortunately that also makes it tough to get the bit set in the screw and to apply much torque.
