Default 1982 euro question

Hey everyone I’m new to the forum.
i have owned a few 928 Porsche’s but my first
euro car and very excited to jump in and get running.
i have a folder 2 inches thick with service records
and well maintained until 2004. has been a little neglected but I’ve been down this road before.
its a 82 atm euro for sure I have the import documents and the 3 registered owners and all history till 04.
i can’t tell if it’s a 4.5 or 4.7 engine I looked at the motor but there are no S markings and no markings on the fan bar mount.
Vin#WPOZZZ92ZCS840859
can someone tell me what engine is in the car

Go to the top of the forum page and get vin check done on your car. It will tell you engine size and more.

I’ve tried it 20 times with adding zero and with o
still won’t work. Just trying to see if it’s a 4.5 or 4.7
one of the receipts says it’s a 5.0 But I don’t think that’s true.
I can’t believe there is no marking on top of the fan mount. Is there any other place that has that m28 marking.

get the engine code and post it,
the code is under the top radiator hose about 10 inches under the area where it attaches to the water bridge

I checked for the m28 number just below the rad hose connection where the fan bracket is and saw nothing there it’s clean with no writing or numbers.
its a gray market car
is that code anywhere else the car ?

Not the "VIN Decoder" thingy. That's useless.

There's a section of "sticky" threads at the top of the forum. There's the 'For Sale" thread, several events, the "New Visitor" thread (if you haven't already, spend some time reading that) and the "Official VIN Check" thread.
Make a post in that thread with your VIN. There's some guys on here who have the production info that includes engine, transmission and options (no colors - paint or interior).
Even if the VIN is 'just close', they will most likely be able to figure out what it really is.

However, it you don't have any serial number on the top of the block at the front, then you likely have a replacement motor. My understanding (and I welcome correction if I'm wrong) is that factory replacement motors came without id numbers. That makes it a bit hard to figure out what it is.

M28/12 is a 4.7 300hp S motor.

Sweet!

I found this one in Boston it looks like it was sitting for a while. little rust spots here and there and shift cable frozen but full history with 2 inch thick folder of service records and all the import transfer documents when shipped here and all documented previous owners.
oh and only 64k original miles I had to tow it all the way home to long island but I think I found a good restoration project

I had no idea that they put a 4.7 motor in the 1982 Euro. If so, the hp should be rated at 310 correct???

The 310 hp engine came MY1984 with electronic injection. 1980 to 1983 Euro S are rated 300 hp, mechanical K-Jetronic (CIS) injection.
